View from Hearst Castle

In May we had an opportunity to stay at a friend's lovely home near the beach in Cambria. Four of us then visited Hearst Castle for the basic tour. As you may know, there are a lot of different tours for the Hearst mansion.

What fascinated me the most was the view from Hearst's high dwelling on the hillside. There are many acres to his property, and it is situated on a gorgeous overlook of the ocean. My brother-in-law worked for George Hearst, whom I believe was the grandson of William Randolph. In fact, Jack was working at the Los Angeles Herald Examiner, during the time Patty Hearst was kidnapped. That was THE news story of the time.

This painting is a mixed media with watercolor, pastels and acrylic on rice paper.
